Men are more resilient to relationships until they meet that one, then they dive in full force, where women are more likely to find love on fundamentals based on a good job and if he is good to her. This is a paraphrased line in the film that I think has some truth and gives a lot of explanation and value to our characters. BLUE VALENTINE intertwines the blossoming and demise of a relationship paralleling their first moments to their last moments. It is both exhilarating and depressing. Exhilarating when we see the two young lovers discover each other. Depressing when years down the road we see that same relationship fall apart.

The Speed of Thought
Wasn’t it just eight years ago that Nick Stahl was being groomed for Hollywood stardom, and started off his campaign with a major starring role in “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines”? Nowadays you’ll find the former John Connor plying his trade on a variety of direct-to-DVD movies, having produced an astounding eight — count’em, eight — movies in 2010 alone. Mind you, we’re not talking about cameos here; Stahl was the male lead in five of those titles, and had worthy supporting roles in the rest. Stahl already has five titles upcoming in 2011, including a regular gig on the TV show “Locke and Key”. Evan Oppenheimer’s “The Speed of Thought” is one of Stahl’s 2011 offering, and although moderately budgeted, was surprisingly quite good.
Stahl plays Joshua Lazarus, a telepath (or “scoper” in the movie’s parlance) who works for the U.S. Government (run by “Fringe’s” Blair Brown) in order to help pay the bills at an orphanage for similarly gifted kids run by the kindly Sandy (the inconceivable Wallace Shawn). Sandy’s mansion is like Professor Charles Xavier’s of “X-Men” fame, but instead of guys who can make snowballs and run through walls, these little tykes can all read your minds. Being that they’re quite dangerous unsupervised, the Guv’ment have made a cushy deal with Sandy whereby he supplies them with, essentially, spies for various bad deeds around the world. Human wiretaps without all that warrant baggage, if you will.

The Producers is a movie based on a play based on a movie about a play. And that's probably the funniest thing about it.
In 1968, Mel Brooks made his big-screen directorial and writing debut with The Producers, a slapstick farce about how two Broadway producers concoct a scheme to get rich by making the worst play in the history of the Great White Way. Predictably, what should be a colossal failure turns out to be a smash hit. Despite a delightfully wicked premise and a couple of delicious lines, The Producers is not on par with Brooks' other early films. It's not consistently clever or funny, and there are long, tedious stretches when one obvious joke after another falls flat. Brooks would hit his stride six years later with Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein. The Producers shows little of the humor evident in those (and other) movies.
Rush Hour 2
While the rules of the buddy/action comedy are significantly different from those of the romantic comedy, one key ingredient is common to both popular genres: that of chemistry between the leads. Unfortunately, while both motormouthed Chris Tucker and rubber limbed Jackie Chan are energetic and charismatic in their own right, they mix as well as oil and water. Yes, their characters - Hong Kong Detective Inspector Lee and LAPD's Detective James Carter - are supposed to be mismatched. The problem is that the actors seem to be less in synch than their on-screen alter egos. There's more going on between sizzling Roselyn Sanchez and Chan, who only share a handful of scenes, than between Chan and Tucker.

Being John Malkovich
These days, critics (and non-critics, for that matter) are fond of complaining about how multiplexes are populated by cookie-cutter motion pictures that follow safe, formula-derived patterns designed to please audiences who want a different version of a story they have already seen dozens of times. And, while there's some truth to the maxim that "there's nothing new under the sun," Being John Malkovich tries hard to be the exception. Admittedly, the themes addressed by the movie - those of identity, celebrity, and manipulation - are familiar, but the manner in which director Spike Jonze and writer Charlie Kaufman address them is fresh and inventive. I'm not arrogant enough to claim that nothing like Being John Malkovich has ever previously been committed to celluloid, but, if it has been, I haven't seen it.

Jason Ritter plays a video store clerk who works persistently to draw out a reclusive woman, played by Marianna Palka who often comes to the video store where he works and rents soft-core porn. Eventually, despite his strong optimism, her dislike of sex and resulting defensiveness drives them apart. It is revealed toward the end of the film that her dislike of both sex and relationships was fueled by sexual abuse at the hands of her father. It is implied throughout the film that this began early in her life, and continued into her adolescence. This abuse and most likely its large amounts of evidence are what causes her father to take care of all her needs such as her apartment, food, and other expenses. The film ends with a confrontation with her father, and ultimately Ritter's character reuniting with her, implying that she is prepared to be in a relationship with him.

Crazy on the Outside
Thomas Zelda (Tim Allen) has been paroled from prison for being involved in movie piracy. He is picked up by his eccentric sister Vicky (Sigourney Weaver) whom is revealed to be a habitual liar (she claims it's so people aren't hurt by the truth).
He arrives at Vicky's home where he plans to spend some time putting his life back together when it's revealed that his mother was told (by Vicky) that he went to France instead of prison. Due to a heart condition, Tommy keeps the story leading to a euphemism where France means "prison" (Vicky's husband asks Tommy if he thinks he'll go "back to France" soon).
